I always enjoyed drawing and painting as a child and my one 'claim to fame' at Secondary School is that my painting of Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers' was displayed in the Headmasters office - although I do recall spending quite a lot of time in art lessons standing in front of the classroom due to excessive talking! Nothing has changed after all this time, but Angela, our mentor is kinder and just encourages me to get on with my work....
Having grown up in Burtle on a farm, I have always had a love of the countryside and animals and you will often find them featured in my paintings.
Having moved to Woolavington 35 years ago, I joined Mrs Cook's Art Classes for a couple of years but unfortunately, family and work commitments took over and so I did not have the time to fit them in. Now that I have retired and my family have flown the nest, I found that I was able to join Angela’s class some three years ago.
I have tried several mediums but always go back to oils, I also enjoy drawing using both coloured pencils and watercolour pencils, especially in the summer months as they are more easily transported when we have days out with the class.
I have learnt a lot over the past three years and really look forward to our weekly classes where I have met some lovely people. |
